Show-Me Rally: AWD Crews to Watch
Based in Potosi, Missouri, and running many of the same roads as Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, Show-Me Rally is the last single-day event of the 2018 Rally America National Championship. This Saturday’s event will see competitors take on eight stages of just over 55 racing miles, with the winner claiming 12 points towards determining this year’s overall driver and co-driver champions.
This morning, we look at the top Open, Open Light, and Super Production competitors in the event, whose names you can expect to see towards the top of the overall standings at the end of the rally. Stay tuned later today for the 2-Wheel Drive racers we’ll be watching for:
#94 Piotr Fetela/Dominik Jozwiak (starting 1st)
A victory at Show-Me would do two things for the Fetela Rally Team. First, it would ensure that Fetela and Jozwiak have won more than half of the events on this year’s Rally America calendar. Second, it would help them make up points in a tight championship battle with just two events left.
#194 Dave Brown/Mike Brown (starting 2nd)
Despite mechanical gremlins at Rally Colorado, the Browns gained most of their current points advantage over Fetela/Jozwiak simply by finishing that event, and held onto it with a podium at Sno*Drift Summer Rally. Another overall podium would put them in good shape for the final two rounds of 2018.
#660 Charles Surdyke/Colin Vickman (starting 3rd)
Last year’s Show-Me Rally winner, Surdyke has paired with a new co-driver this year in Vickman and earned multiple top-10 overall finishes in two-day events. Returning to the grid for the first time since Southern Ohio Forest Rally, the duo will hope to put the #660 atop the podium in back-to-back years.
#3 Nathan Usher/Marianna Langosch (starting 5th)
Usher and Langosch may be starting a few cars back of the top two in points, but at third in the overall standings, remain a formidable force every time they compete. The season-opening Nemadji Winter Trail Rally winners come into Show-Me after a podium finish at Sno*Drift Summer Rally.
