With the season continuing to count down, Fetela Rally Team’s Piotr Fetela and Dominik Jozwiak did their part to stay in the hunt for the 2018 Rally America National Championship with their victory in Saturday’s Show-Me Rally. The win was their fourth in seven rounds so far this season, and came by 37.2 seconds over championship leaders Dave and Mike Brown.

Spencer Sherman and Boyd Smith, the top 2WD entry in the event, completed the podium and bested the Group 2 class. River City Rally had the top Group 5 entry, as Michael Hooper and new co-driver Brian Katz took fourth overall, while Unamused Rally Sport’s Ryan and Rachel Rethy completed the top five.

A rainy second half of the rally and downed trees led to the transit of the final stage, the second pass at Brazil to Colen to Moses. Of the 30 crews to enter the event, all but seven finished; the DNFs, however, included 2017 event winner Charles Surdyke and 2016 winners Micah Nickelson/Tyler Ptacek. Chris Barribeau and Bryce Proseus had been third overall at halfway before taking a three-minute penalty for showing up late to a mandatory time control, and then suffered issues on the Baby Pigeon Roost stage that led to their DNF.

Full results of this year’s Show-Me Rally can be found here. The 2018 Rally America National Championship resumes in two weeks’ time with the historic Lake Superior Performance Rally. Over 50 entries are already registered for the traditional October race.
